Policy Change Regarding Graduation Commencement

A recent change in policy from Wright State's Faculty Senate regarding students participating in a commencement ceremony:

The change approved by the Faculty Senate effectively ends the option for students to participate in a later commencement ceremony other than the semester they graduated from. As such, if you have already graduated and wish to participate in a commencement ceremony, we highly recommend you register for the Fall 2017 commencement ceremony as this will be your last option to do so.

If you are graduating this semester (Fall 2017) or graduated in the Summer 2017 semester then the Fall 2017 commencement ceremony is, likewise, your only option for "walking" in a commencement ceremony. To do this you need to you need to make sure that you have indicated in WINGS that you will be attending the fall 2017 ceremony.

Wright State does stream the commencement ceremonies on their website (https://www.wright.edu/streaming) so family members could potentially view this fall's commencement through the live stream.

Please understand that this was University policy decision approved at the end of the last academic year. If you have any questions about this policy change you can contact the Graduate School via: wsugrad@wright.edu (graduate students) or the Registrar's Office wsu-registrar@wright.edu (undergraduate students).

*Please also note that you are welcome to participate in any of the future UCIE Graduation Receptions, regardless of when you graduate.

Fake FBI Calls

Please be reminded that Police, the Internal Revenue Service, the FBI, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, and other government agencies will *never* call you to ask for money or threaten your arrest.

If you receive such a phone call, the caller often knows the name of the intended victim and has called a personal cell phone number, as well as a work number, to reach intended victims. In addition, the originating telephone number used by the scammer is displayed or "spoofed" as that of the telephone number of a Government Office. At this time we have not yet had reported instances in Ohio.

If a student (or faculty/staff) have any concerns about the legitimacy of a phone call from the FBI or another U.S. Government Agency, they can request the name of the agent and state they will call them back at the main number for the field office or resident agency.  For Cincinnati, that would be (513) 421-4310, for Dayton (937) 222-7485, for Columbus (614) 224-1183, for Cambridge (740) 432-7416, for Athens (740) 593-6473, and for Portsmouth (740) 354-5645 or hang up immediately. If you have any questions, please contact the UCIE or the Wright State University Police department (775-2111).
