Psychologist, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas, Texas
"I help teach Dallas Cowboys how to
be professionals."
Yolanda Bruce Brooks was recruited by the Dallas Cowboys to design a program to help players and their families tackle the
problems of adjusting to life in professional sports. Today she focuses on personal and professional development of the younger players,
coaching them on financial planning, stress management, substance abuse, and the other demands they face as they kick off their careers.
Many of the techniques Brooks uses with the Cowboys started at Wright State University, where as a student she set up a mentoring program
for first-year minority students. "It provided the foundation for much of what I'm currently doing with these rookies. Wright State
helped me incorporate who I am as a person with what I am doing professionally."
