Feature Alum: Bob Reed
1970 B.S.B, 1973 M.B.A.
Bank President, Liberty Savings Bank,
Dayton, Ohio
"I like to think of my job as helping people
accomplish their dreams."
Like the bricklayer who keeps in mind that he's not just laying bricks but building a cathedral, Bob Reed knows that being
president of Liberty Savings Bank means he, too, has to keep the big picture in mind. "My job is not just about making a loan
to a small business or helping a consumer get a second mortgage, it's about helping reinvigorate a neighborhood or financing
a child's education," he says.
"The critical thinking skills I learned at Wright State taught me to ask 'What are we doing for the communities we serve?'"
Staying in touch with Wright State professors, teaching an occasional class, and maintaining customer relationships help Reed give back to
his community.
Favorite WSU Memory:
Wright State was one building in a cornfield that I could walk to from my Fairborn home. If it hadn't been for Wright State,
I really wonder if I would have gone to college. In many ways, I grew up with the university.
Last Book Read:
A Painted House, John Grisham
Future Plans:
My wife and I love to travel and we take a big trip each year, but I'll always stay committed to helping the community and small
businesses.
