"When I see people facing their worst, I have to
be my best."
When Roger Pacholka reports to work as attending physician in Miami Valley Hospital's emergency department, he never knows what life and death
decisions he'll confront during his 9-hour shift. "It's a specialty where I have to know a lot about a lot of different things. But I love the challenge
of emergency medicine. It's a privilege to serve."
Pacholka also volunteers as medical director for the Xenia Fire Department and serves as a medical missionary through an organization he founded,
In His Name Ministries.
"I came from a poor family. I never envisioned myself as a doctor. It did not occur to me until I went to Wright State. I did so well in the science
classes, even with the professors holding us all to very high standards. That's when I began thinking that I could make it in medical school."
