Coordinator, Office of Disability Services, Sinclair Community College,
Dayton, Ohio
"My reward is fostering independence in students with disabilities."
Robin Moore-Cooper has a passion for helping students discover their
abilities. "I see the progress my students make and the opportunities
they are able to take advantage of, and I take pride in knowing they are
expanding their horizons," says Moore-Cooper, coordinator for the
Office of Disability Services at Sinclair Community College.
Moore-Cooper adopted her motto-to be fair, firm, and consistent-while
working toward her master's in rehabilitation counseling (M.R.C.) at Wright
State. Combining that with her own capacity for being a good listener,
Moore-Cooper coordinates support services with her students' academic
and work environments. "It is impossible to design a successful plan
FOR a person, you have to do it WITH them," she says.
Best Advice: From my mom ..."Don't ever say can't."
Last Book Read: A text book! I'm busy working on my Ph.D. and
haven't had time for leisure reading.
Favorite WSU Memory: Receiving the WSU Alumni Association's 2000
Distinguished Alumni Award. That had been a very trying year for me and
I was surprised, humbled, and ecstatic to receive such an honor.
