Feature Alum: Ron Marshall

1976 B.S.B.
CEO, Nash Finch, Minneapolis, Minn.

"I work hard because that is the main ingredient in accomplishment."

Ron Marshall works hard and plays hard. A private pilot, scuba diver, voracious reader, and marathon runner who carried the Olympic Torch, he applies the same passion for excellence to leading Nash Finch, a food wholesale and retail giant. As CEO, his own Marshall Plan has taken the Minneapolis-based Fortune 500 company to new heights in performance and profitability.

"Wright State is a product of Dayton, and so am I," says the accountancy honors grad. "The university's strong connection to the community is one of its strengths. It opened up doors for me and gave me the skills to deal with all kinds of people... skills I use today."

Favorite WSU Memory: The faculty members who were role models and prepared me for the internship program I participated in at WSU. I did so well that I was hired right after graduation.

Best Advice: "Always treat people with integrity, honesty, and sincerity. Across the long term, building credibility with people is the way to be successful."

Last Book Read: John Maynard Keynes: Fighting for Freedom, 19371946, Robert Skidelsky
