"We're here to be in business, but we realize we are part of this community."
Larry Klaben, president and CEO of Morris Home Furnishings, credits his liberal arts degree from
Wright State for contributing to his business success and community involvement. With a degree
in Urban Planning, Klaben headed to Washington, D.C., and worked on Capitol Hill. But he eventually
returned to the Miami Valley when he purchased Morris Furniture Mart from his father-in-law.
Sixteen years later, he has grown the business from one store and 18 employees to three stores and
250 employees, making Morris Home Furnishings the largest home furnishings retailer in the Miami Valley.
"Learning about the process of planning and change really helped set a good foundation for business,"
he says. "Wright State gave me a broad overall educational experience, which encouraged civic involvement."
