Feature Alum: Judy Hennessey
1972 B.S. Ed., 1975 M.Ed.
Superintendent, Oakwood Schools, Oakwood, Ohio
"One person in education can make a difference."
Wright State University gave Judy Hennessey, Ph.D., "a passion for
education. Not just a sense of confidence, but a sense that one person could make a difference in the lives of thousands of children." She says she felt well prepared, thanks to plenty of in-school training while at WSU.
Hennessey has moved from the classroom to become the first female superintendent of the Oakwood Schools. With days and evenings filled with meetings, school activities, and community events, Hennessey makes time for the student and parent contact she enjoys. Her goals include enhancing the district's educational opportunities through the Internet and advanced courses. "We're striving to make the school district not just excellent, but distinctive."
