1970 B.S., 1972 M.S.
Teacher, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.
"Education is one of the great equalizers
of the world."
"Americans willing to work hard have the opportunity for an education because we live in a free country," says Dolores Etter,
who teaches at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. "And our country is free because we have a strong military."
The former undersecretary for defense in the country's science and technology program and an expert in digital signal processing, Etter today passes on her knowledge and expertise to the next generation of naval and marine officers.
"Science and engineering and education have been inter-related in my life ever since the chair of the mathematics department at Wright State encouraged me to try teaching. I'm proud of the opportunity I've had to serve my country," she says. "But I get more satisfaction out of helping students tackle difficult concepts. Education lets people follow
their dreams."
