Student Advantage

As a Wright State University student, you have free access to Office 365 ProPlus through Microsoft's Student Advantage program. Office 365 ProPlus includes full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, and can be installed on up to five personally-owned PCs/Macs and up to five mobile devices, including iOS and Android devices.

  • Do not install Office 365 ProPlus on university-owned computers. Only install on home or personally-owned computers or devices.
  • The Office 365 ProPlus subscription is free through the Student Advantage program as long as your student account is active. When you are no longer considered a student, you will receive a notice that your subscription has expired, and you have the option to continue the subscription on your own with Microsoft or enter a product key to re-install a previous version of Microsoft Office.

FAQs

How do I save files on my Android or iPhone version of the Office application?

All files in Microsoft Office Mobile must be saved to OneDrive, because it does not allow files to save locally to your phone. Saving is only supported by Microsoft Consumer accounts, which you can sign up for free here

How long can I use Office 365 Pro Plus?

Office 365 Pro Plus will be available to you as long as you are enrolled as a student of Wright State. Two semesters after you have left Wright State, Office 365 Pro Plus will automatically switch to read-only mode (you can still view your saved documents, but not edit them or save new files).

Is this available to Faculty and Staff?

If you are a faculty or staff member and are currently enrolled as a student, you have access to the software in Student Advantage.

What if I already have Office 2011 or 2013?

If you want to use Office 365 ProPlus through Student Advantage, you should uninstall any copy of Office already installed on your computer.

Note: If you have previously purchased a copy of Microsoft Office through the CaTS Home Software Store, we recommend that you keep your discs if you plan on installing Student Advantage. Access to Student Advantage will expire after you graduate and are no longer a student. You will still be able to use your Office discs after you graduate.

What is the difference between the free Office and the Office in the Home Software Store?

Office 365 Pro Plus Student Advantage is a free subscription service available while you maintain student status. After you leave the university it will expire with the option of converting to a paid subscription.

Office Pro Plus for Windows or Mac is available through the CaTS Home Software Store at a low cost. This is a perpetual license that never expires.

Why is it asking for a product key?

If you receive a request for a product key in order to activate the software, you aren’t signed in. Select ‘Sign In’ and use your Office 365 email and password to access the software.
