WSU E-mail Service Changes

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

This message is being sent to you because your account has been identified as one which is still accessing "mail.wright.edu" for outgoing e-mail. This could be due to e-mail client settings which have not been updated to use the new RaiderMail service, including settings on mobile or tablet type devices.

Please note that beginning September 12, Wright State University students who have been migrated to the new RaiderMail system will no longer have access to send outgoing e-mail using Wright State's old e-mail services. Students will continue to have access to their old messages through the "mail.wright.edu" and "webmail.wright.edu" websites until these services are no longer available.

For information on updating your e-mail client settings, please refer to the “Setup Instructions” section of the RaiderMail Help and Documentation website. This page includes settings for Windows, Macintosh, and Mobile device e-mail clients. In particular, you must update the client settings for the "Outgoing" or "SMTP Server" settings to use the new RaiderMail system.

RaiderMail Help and Documentation website:
https://support.wright.edu/raidermail

If you feel there is an ongoing need to continue using the old e-mail services for submitting outgoing e-mail, please contact the CaTS Help Desk at helpdesk@wright.edu or by calling (937) 775-4827.

Campus Wireless Connectivity Issues 2012-08-30

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Many users are experiencing sporadic issues with wireless connectivity on campus. CaTS has determined that the cause of this problem is a known issue with the Android operating system, in which the Android device can disrupt wireless service for other devices on the same network. A temporary workaround for this issue has been established.

CaTS is asking all campus users with Android devices to visit the following website and perform the listed steps to help alleviate campus-wide issues. Assistance will be available through the CaTS Help Desk if needed.

Reminder: CaTS to Begin Locking Electronic Classrooms

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Beginning in the Fall 2012 Semester, CaTS will begin locking the doors to all electronic classrooms by 11:59 p.m. Monday through Thursday and by 9:00 p.m. on Friday. This is being done to address recent security concerns, along with a need to have classroom technology ready to use for faculty/instructional use each morning. These steps will help to make the classrooms more secure and easier to use.

Please make note that three electronic classrooms in the basement of Millett Hall (002, 009, and 028) will be left open for students or student groups that need to use them for academic purposes. In addition, there are 10 24-hour computer labs across campus that students can use.

These labs are located in the following locations:

* 042 and 058 Dunbar Library
* 008, 012, 016, and 026 Library Annex
* 039 and 043 Millett Hall
* 064 and 072 Rike Hall

Any student or student group that wishes to use an electronic classroom other than those listed above must contact the Student Union Administrative Office (x5522) in advance to make a reservation. Any classrooms that have been scheduled through the Student Union Administrative Office or the Registrar for evening or weekend usage will be left unlocked by CaTS. If a door is inadvertently locked, a call can be placed to the Help Desk at (937) 775-4827 and a representative will come to unlock the door.
