Dr. Vaughn P. Shannon is Assistant Professor of political science at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. His research interests include international security, Middle East politics, and terrorism. His publications on militant Islam include “Militant Islam and the Futile Fight for Reputation” (Security Studies, 2007) and “Why Who Hates Us” (Harvard International Review, 2006).

He is the author of Balancing Act: US Foreign Policy and the Arab-Israeli Conflict (Ashgate Press, 2003), and his other work has appeared in numerous journals, including International Organization, International Studies Quarterly, European Journal of International Relations, and Foreign Policy Analysis. Dr. Shannon received his Ph.D from The Ohio State University in 2001.
