Logistics - THE Combat Enabler
 
The 2010 Logistics Officer Association (LOA) National Conference was held in Orlando, Florida October 11 through 14. This year’s theme was "Logistics - THE Combat Enabler."  The Institute of Defense Studies and Education was represented in the Exhibitor's Hall  and was pleased to support the LOA Conference. 

With nearly 1,400 participants, the LOA Conference provided an opportunity for senior logisticians and leaders from the Armed Forces, DoD and top defense manufacturing companies to hear briefs on strategic planning, contracting, supply chain management, and issues and opportunities in logistics. Many of the presentations were given by senior leaders from the Air Force and the Department of Defense. 

Gen Norton Schwartz, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, Gen Douglas Fraser, Commander, U.S. Southern Command, Gen Donald Hoffman, Commander, Air Force Materiel Command and LTG Kathleen Gainey, Director for Logistics, J4, The Joint Staff each shared their views on Logistics and the road ahead. Additional speakers included Lt Gen Loren Reno, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support, Lt Gen Thomas Owen, Commander Aeronautical Systems Center, Mr Grover Dunn, Director of Transformation, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support, Mrs. Barbara Westgate, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Plans and Programs, Lt Gen Charles Stenner, Chief Air Force Reserve, Maj Gen Daniel O'Hollaren, Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, Air Force Material Command and many more. 

The Honorable Terry Yonkers, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Installations, Environment, and Logistics, wrapped the conference with a keynote presentation 2010 LOA National Awards Banquet, Thursday 14 October. 

The Industry Partner Hall featured nearly 90 of the military logistics community’s top defense companies and manufacturers sharing ideas, proven practices, and new technology to help find solutions to logistics challenges we are currently facing.
