University Facilities and Services

Child Care

Classified employees have access to on-campus child care through the child development center (Mini University). Mini University is an independently-owned childcare facility that employs teachers trained in early childhood education. It is open to faculty, staff, students, and the general public from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday) and is available for children from 18 months to six years of age. Children may attend half days or full days, with fees based on the child's age and the type of program selected. Mini University also offers year-round programs for school age children, before and after their school day.  


Disability Services

Wright State is a national leader in accommodating the needs of individuals with disabilities. The Office of Disability Services provides assistance and support services which promote full participation for members of the university community with disabilities. Disability Services is available to provide you with information on the Americans with Disabilities Act and various other disability-related concerns. The office maintains an extensive library of resource material on disabilities, adapted equipment, and architectural barrier removal. Handicapped parking areas are available for all persons who have mobility difficulties. For more information about obtaining authorization for a temporary or permanent campus handicapped parking permit, contact the Disability Services office.


University Libraries

The University Libraries consist of the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library and the Fordham Health Sciences Library. Together their collections are among the largest in the Dayton metropolitan area. In addition, the University Libraries are members of OhioLINK, an advanced computer network providing access to over 30 million items in academic libraries throughout Ohio. Materials can be ordered online from OhioLINK libraries and received on campus for checkout within two to three days. The Wright State University Libraries Web site provides online access to a wide variety of information resourcesincluding complete articles from magazines, journals, newspapers, e-books, and Internet sources.

You may check out materials at the libraries by presenting your Wright 1 card. Information about library hours, collections, and services is available on the University Libraries website or by calling (937) 775-4125.


Student Union

The Student Union serves as Wright State’s multi-purpose community center. It includes most student service departments, meeting rooms, gallery space, lounges, a food court, bookstore, fitness center, banking facility, and other services for the entire university community.  


University Bookstore

The university bookstore is located in the Student Union. It provides many services and suppliesincluding textbooks and class materials, as well as Wright State merchandisefrom sweatshirts to coffee mugs. The bookstore also has an extensive general book department. You can obtain a discount on purchases by presenting your employee I.D. card. Bookstore hours are posted at the bookstore entrance.


Campus Publications

To keep you informed of campus happenings, Wright State's Office of Communications and Marketing publishes the monthly newsletter, Dialogue, and the Wright State Universityy Magazine, exploring various issues important to the university and its employees. Dialogue can also be read online. For the latest in what's new at Wright State, you can go online to Dialogue or the Newsroom for current updates on news and events.  


Food for Thought

Wright State’s Dining Services experts work to ensure that our students, faculty, staff and guests receive high-quality food service, with a variety of menu options in well-maintained dining areas.

Allyn Hall’s The Hangar offers customers many familiar dining options for breakfast and lunch. Guests can enjoy Taco Bell Express®, Pizza Hut Express®, Chick-fil-A Express®, a huge salad bar, a fresh bakery, and machine-dispensed frozen yogurt.  

The Student Union features Union Market, the largest dining facility on campus. It consists of a deli, home style cooking, pizza, pasta, a soup and salad bar, international cuisine and more, and it is a place where guests can watch their meals being prepared before their eyes.  Union Market also features a cyber café, a lounge and The Wright Cup, Wright State’s coffee shop.  Also visit Wright State’s own convenience store, The Depot, located in the Honors Community.  

Finally, don’t miss Gourmet Bean or Café Wright, portable gourmet coffee carts conveniently located at various locations on campus.
