The Classified Employee

Wright State is a complex and diverse institution much like a small city. Classified employees provide many of the specialized skills that allow the university to function smoothly. Under Ohio law, employees of a state university, except those engaged in teaching, research, and administration, are appointed under classified civil service (see page 35). This includes all hourly paid positions except a limited number of grant-funded research positions.

Classified employees at Wright State work in a wide variety of job classifications in academics, special services, and technical areas. As a member of the classified staff you play an invaluable role in the operation of the university.
