About Vision Coverage

Benefit-eligible employees (75% FTE or higher) can elect vision coverage with Vision Service Plan (VSP) with or without electing medical coverage. This also means that eligible dependents who are not enrolled in medical coverage may be enrolled in vision coverage as long as the employee is enrolled.

Members may receive vision care from any VSP in-network provider or select retail units. Vision care can also be obtained from a non-VSP provider with lower reimbursement.

VSP does not mail vision insurance cards. Please let your vision provider know that you are associated with the Wright State University Group plan.

VSP TruHearing Hearing Aid Discount Program

VSP also offers a Hearing Aid benefits to its members. VSP Vision Care members can save up to 60% on the latest brand-name hearing aids. Dependents and even extended family members are eligible for exclusive savings too.

New Hires

Benefits are effective on the first day of the month following the date of hire. Employees have 31 days from their hire date to enroll in benefits.

Eligible employees may choose to enroll for medical, dental, and/or vision coverage for themselves and eligible dependents. These coverages are not linked and can be elected on an individual basis. There are employee premiums for each coverage and coverage level selected.

Additional information about the services provided by VSP, including an on-line directory of in-network providers, can be found on the VSP website or by calling VSP at 800-877-7195.

Qualifying Life Events

Within 31 days of experiencing a qualifying life event, you may be eligible to make consistent changes to your benefits. Please see our Life Events section for more information.
