Employees who are appointed to work on more than a 50% Full-time Equivalency basis are eligible to enroll for medical benefits with Wright State University.
Employees can enroll eligible dependents in medical benefits if they meet dependent definitions.
Wright State’s definition of eligible dependent:
- Domestic Partner
AAUP Faculty ONLY: Your registered same or opposite sex Domestic Partner.
Staff & Non-Bargaining Faculty: Your child* from birth to age 26
AAUP Faculty: Your child* from birth to age 26 (coverage can be extended to the end of the month in which the child turns 28, please review the Adult Child Eligibility Criteria (Child from ages 19-26 and 26-28) (PDF).
- Disabled Dependent age 26 or older
Your child* age 26 or older who cannot work to support themselves due to mental retardation or physical or mental handicap.
*A child is defined as a natural blood related child, step-child, child of your registered domestic partner (AAUP Faculty ONLY), legally adopted child or child placed with the employee for adoption, child for which the employee or employee’s spouse has permanent legal custody or legal guardianship or any child for whom you are required by a Qualified Medical Child Support Order to provide health care coverage.
