Maternity and Parental Benefits
Q: How long can I be
off work to have a baby?
A: Federal and state law (FMLA, Pregnancy Discrimination
Act, etc.) provide for up to 12 weeks of maternity leave. Eligible
staff members are entitled to up to six (6) weeks of paid Parental
Leave provided by the university. Eligible faculty members may
qualify for teaching relief in lieu of Parental Leave.

A: The FMLA provides that maternity leave is for up to 12
weeks for employee spouses or domestic partners. Eligible staff
members are entitled to up to three (3) weeks of paid Parental leave
provided by the university. Eligible faculty members may qualify
for teaching relief in lieu of Parental leave.
