Position Summary: To participate in clinical care of vascular
surgery patients, teaching of medical students and surgery residents and
appropriate academic/scholarly activities.
Education and Experience:
Completion of an accredited
General Surgery residency program or completion of the number of years specified
to enter a Vascular Surgery Residency Program. Completion of an accredited
Vascular Surgery Residency Program with demonstrated competence in endovascular
surgery. License to practice medicine in Ohio. Ability to obtain malpractice
insurance. Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board
of Surgery*. Certification or eligibility for certification by the Vascular
Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery. *Vascular Surgery Training
completed after July 1, 2006, certification by the American Board of Surgery in
addition to certification by the Vascular Surgery Board of the ABS may not be
required. Assistant Professor level candidates must meet required minimum job
qualification requirements. Associate Professor level candidates must meet
required minimum job qualifications, be Board Certified by the Vascular Surgery
Board of the American Board of Surgery and have at least 5 years experience at
the Assistant Professor level. Professor level candidates must fulfill all the
requirements of Associate Professor, have at least 5 years experience at the
Associate Professor level and sustained high performance in scholarly activity.
Working Conditions: The position
is shared between the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Miami Valley
Hospital. The Veterans Affairs Medical Center based appointment is a 5/8
appointment, a sufficient appointment to be eligible for Veterans Affairs merit
review grant funding and relocation bonus and/or expenses.
Note: Length of Appointment: Annually renewable,
Auxiliary, Special Contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
Position Description:
Serve as a vascular surgeon, providing patient care,
including clinics and staff services(s) in the Department of Surgery at the
Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Miami Valley Hospital.
Participate actively in the teaching and supervision of
surgery residents and medical students.
Contribute significantly to the academic/research mission
of the Department of Surgery with scholarly activities such as submission to
peer reviewed journals, presentation at local, regional, and national surgical
societies as well as membership in surgical organiziations.
