Preferred: Previous experience as a director of a cultural center, or have significant successful teaching experience in courses in diversity, African and African-American Studies, multicultural or minority affairs. Position Description: Provide vision, leadership, and direction to the Center. Continue to position the Center as an active, visible, intellectual, and cultural anchor on campus as well as in the local African-American and broader communities. Work closely with the University College, the Division of Student Affairs, and campus community in providing mentoring and various outreach support services to African-American students to facilitate their academic success. Work closely with the Directors of the Asian/Hispanic/Native American Center, the Women's Center, the African and African-American Studies Program, and the Women's Studies Program to provide cultural programming, and otherwise address the needs of the campus community-- students, faculty, and staff. Be a strong and visible university advocate for African-American students. Work closely with all colleges, schools, and divisions at the university in the achievement of the above.
