Position Summary:   To perform optical measurements (photoluminescence and related techniques) on semiconductor research samples including sample preparation and handling, operation and maintenance of specialized optical and electronic equipment.

Education and Experience:   Associate's degree, or equivalent training, in technical field involving electronics. Five years experience in operating specialized research equipment.

Preferred: Ten years semiconductor research including operation of specialized research equipment.

Working Conditions: Normal laboratory environment, including possible exposure to high voltages, cryogenic liquids, and some chemicals.

Note: Length of appointment is one year. Continuation contingent upon grant funding. Special Contract terms and conditions of employment apply.

Position Description:  

Independent, responsible operation of specialized scientific apparatus including operation of lasers, spectrometers and detectors as well as safe handling and use of cryogenic liquids.

Maintenance of overall laboratory functionality, including repair of laboratory equipment.

Organization of data and discussion of research results with supervisor.
