Position Summary: The Software Support Analyst 1 is responsible for the evaluation, implementation, and administration of the technical aspects of software (ie. customizing, setting parameters, etc.) in order to meet the functional needs of the client. This position will play an ongoing support role in assisting clients in the effective use of the software in the production environment. Additionally, this position will assist IS staff with UNIX and SQL programming and assist the DBA in support of IS staff Oracle needs. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, or closely related field or post secondary education and training in a computer related discipline, if equivalent experience in computing is present. Minimum of 3 years of computing experience in positions of progressive responsibility including programming, operations support, and production support. Preferred: Experience with applications running on Windows Servers and UNIX, preferably with Sun Solaris. SQL experience preferably with SQL Server and Oracle. Previous experience with Sungard SCT Banner in a university environment highly desirable. Working Conditions: Position requires the individual to be on-call for production support as needed. Position Description: Software implementation, upgrades, and support for third party software including but not limited to; Ad Astra, Appworx, Cognos, Envisions Form Fusion, Intellicheck, and UNIX versioning software. Production support including assisting in the development of an overall printing and archiving strategy for output from Banner production jobs scheduled through Appworx, reporting output from Cognos, and other data archiving needs. Provide desktop software support for IS staff including the install, configuration, and ongoing support and upgrades for products including but not limited to the Oracle client, Oracle Forms, and other development related software. Provide UNIX support to the IS staff including the development of UNIX scripts and shell programming to facilitate the development and production environments. Provide Oracle support including SQL and PL/SQL to the IS staff to facilitate the development and production environments. Provide support as needed for other software products and interfaces between products.
