Position Summary:  To perform diabetes and cardiovascular research for Khalid Elased in the Department of Pharmacology.

Education and Experience:   B.S. in relevant science and 2 years related work experience; Confocal microscopy, animal handling, western blot and tissue culture, and immunohistochemistry.

Preferred: Experience with diabetes research; research in isolation of adipocytes and insulin secretion from pancreatic islets.

Working Conditions: Mixture of team activities and independent work in integrative physiology/pharmacology laboratory focused on cardiovascular and diabetes research in human and animals.

Position Description:  

Handling animals and collection of tissue and biological samples.

Confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis.

Surgery: impalant telemetry probes and minin pumps.

Isoloation of adipocytes and pancreatic islets for study of glucose transport and insulin secretion. Radioactive isotopes will be used in these procedures.

Data analysis, record keeping and writing.
