Education and Experience:   Bachelor's degree and ten years of high level athletic administrative experience at the NCAA Division 1 collegiate level. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop effective relationships with faculty, staff, and students; proven fundraising and marketing experience; a commitment to diversity and gender equity; and a thorough understanding of NCAA compliance requirements.

Preferred: Master's degree and executive management experience in athletics department at a similar university. The successful candidate will be able to articulate a vision for athletics that advances the program to the highest level of operation.

Working Conditions: It is expected that the Director of Athletics will travel in support of team activities, fundraising, community engagement, etc.


Position Description:  

Executive Leadership: Provide executive level leadership and vision to guide and grow the athletics program in a manner consistent with university values. Be committed to maintaining the highest level of excellence. Strive to integrate the academic and athletic experience. Encourage the potential of athletics to foster strong community relations and to enrich the collegiate experience for all students.

Student Focus: The Director must be student centered and assure that every student athlete has a chance to be a champion.

Management of the Department of Athletics: The Director of Athletics is responsible for the integrity of all athletic programs, promotion and fundraising, athletic facilities operations, and management of fiscal and human resources.

Media, news and community relations: The Director serves as the external spokesperson for the department which includes contact with the media, boosters, alumni, civic groups and businesses.

Diversity: The Director promotes actions to support diversity and gender equity.
