Closing Date: May 15, 2008 Position Summary: Facilitate the completion of the application process for undergraduate student applications Education/Experience: Two-year post secondary education and (2) two years of full time related work experience OR a high school diploma and 3 years of full time related work experience; excellent verbal/communication skills; ability to calculate basic math; working knowledge and skills to utilize current office equipment and a variety of complex software packages required. Demonstrated skills/knowledge of additional software may also be required. WSU Testing/Examinations Required: Business Math, Checking-Standard and Data Entry. Position Description: Application Analysis and Evaluation: Analyze and process approximately 5000 undergraduate applications for admissions annually following university policies and procedures. Determine the authenticity of documents which includes a clear understanding of Transfer and Credit Practices, Ohio Board of Regents residency requirements, Immigration and Naturalization law as it applies to university admission. Make an accurate determination what transcripts, test scores, grade point averages, and other documents are required for admission. Understand and explain the requirements for seven colleges and over 100 undergraduate majors as they apply to admission to the university. After assessing what is needed and what is included with the application enter accurately into Banner. Notify students as to the status of application-admission, incomplete, provisionally admitted. Admissions/ Academic Support Services: Perform status checks for students and facilitate student admission by advising them of the minimum requirements for provisional admission/admission. Interact independently with assistant deans, academic advisors, staff, students, parents, high school guidance counselors and principals and other universities by telephone and in person of admission and academic standing. A thorough knowledge of the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act governing the release of confidential information is required. Maintain Applicant Records: Create the electronic student file. This includes scanning, indexing and verifying scanned documents. This links the documents to the particular admission requirement in Banner. Notify college offices of need for previous student records. Authenticate information in file and determine what additional information is needed. Calculate overall grade point averages, determine if student is eligible for Fresh Start., Five Year Absence Rule, etc. Forward files to Registrar for the posting of transfer credit when all documents/transcripts received. Determine residency of students for fee purposes. Be cognizant of all holds on student records and inform students of these holds and refer student to the necessary department/persons for resolution of holds. Maintain and update all materials necessary for the accurate coding and loading of applicant files to the database. Integrate changes in university policies and procedure changes in requirements for college and/or majors into reference materials and knowledge base as necessary. Maintain contact with student through written correspondence, phone,e-mail, etc. Includes mail merge utilizing Microsoft Word.
