Position Summary: To provide instructional activities and support for students participating in the Upward Bound Program at Wright State University. Selected instructors will work with small groups of students, in a classroom setting, as part of a six-week summer academic enrichment program.

Education and Experience:   A valid Ohio Teaching Certificate in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, History, Foreign Languages, etc; 1-2 years of direct teaching experience in a classroom or experience working with similar programs; or advanced coursework and relevant experience may substitute for teaching certificate.

Preferred: Experience working with diverse student populations, low-income and/or first generation students; experience teaching with varied instructional strategies.

Note:  Positions are part-time, non-tenure track with partial benefits.  Length of appointment is quarterly renewable.


Position Description:  

Develop and implement curriculum and appropriate learning outcomes for each course; develop course design, content and selected materials; provide a classroom atmosphere in which teaching and learning may take place; prepare and maintain daily lesson plans describing activities as related to course(s) assigned.

Devise and implement a pre- and post-test for courses assigned.

Provide written evaluations (mid-term and final) of each student's academic progress in assigned courses; implement established disciplinary processes for the classroom; maintain office hours as planned.
