Education and Experience: The successful candidate will have research interest in the function, structure, development, and/or modification of synapses and circuits in the spinal cord or motor systems. Candidates should be prepared to teach neuroscience in graduate and medical school courses. Also, an excellent record of research accomplishments, ability to direct innovative independent research, competitive funding potential, and a strong commitment to high quality teaching. Assistant Professor: Ph.D. with at least 2 years postdoctoral training and a record of publications demonstrating excellence in research and potential for obtaining extramural grant funding. Associate Professor: Ph.D. with at least 4 years as an assistant professor and a record of publications and research funding demonstrating a sustained quality research program with a national reputation for excellence and supervision of graduate students. Preferred: Candidates using genetic animal models to study the formation and maturation of synapses and synaptic circuits. Working Conditions: Standard laboratory research and teaching conditions.
Position Description: Meeting the responsibilities typical for a principle investigator of a research laboratory, including securing extramural funding, generating and publishing research results, managing and training laboratory personnel. Classroom and/or laboratory teaching in medical and graduate school courses. Service on departmental and/pr university committees.
