Education and Experience:  1-3 years previous experience in coaching wheelchair sports and adapted athletic teams; excellent leadership, communication skills and teamwork. 

Preferred:   Membership in athletic and professional organizations preferred.

Licenses/Certifications Required:  CPR and First Aid certification (WSU can provide the training).  Must possess a valid United States drivers license for at least one year.

Working Conditions:  Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Note:  Position is part-time with partial benefits.  Length of appointment is quarterly renewable.


Position Description:  

Plan and conduct all aspects of the adapted swimming program including practices, competitions, training, clinics, camps and recruiting.

Assist the Adapted Recreation Coordinator with travel preparation including scheduling, lodging, meals and related reservations.  May include driving shuttle with trailer.

Maintain participation records, team statistics, equipment inventory, and all expenditures  Conduct end of the year inventories on all team uniforms, wheelchairs and equipment.  Perform maintenance on all sports equipment and wheelchairs as needed.

Attend staff in-service training's, bi-weekly coaches meetings, and one individual evaluation meeting per quarter with the Adapted Recreation Coordinator as well as other trainings, coach's clinics, and professional meetings.

Provide direction to and supervision of student employees, practicum students, interns, and volunteers.

Represent the Office of Campus Recreation and Wright State University.
