Project Update

We are beginning the final stages of the Unclassified PMG Project.   As discussed with senior administration, we are providing information about the new classification for each employee and the 2006 Salary Bands.   Providing you with the opportunity to view information about your classification and others in the system is an important part of system implementation and our commitment to openness. The files you are viewing today are the final drafts of these documents, but they may be subject to revision based on our ongoing discussions and a Peer Review Process.  Following these review processes each employee will receive an individualized letter containing his or her official new classification title, working title and salary band.

The Alphabetical Listing file contains the names of all unclassified employees participating in the project in alphabetical order.   A listing by college, school or division is also available for viewing.  This file contains some working titles. (Not all working titles have been established at this time.) The last file contains the Final Draft of the 2006 Unclassified Salary Bands.

With these files you will be able to view:

  • Your current job title

  • Your new classification title

  • Your old salary grade

  • Your new salary band, and

  • The salary band structure

Within our current salary levels the range midpoints have served as the as the linkage to market pay rates.  With salary bands being wider, the midpoints will not be the only control point for market rates.  For example, based on market data two jobs in the same salary band can be paid at different levels in that band.   This provides the university the opportunity to compensate jobs on a more market completive basis.

Market data is still being collected for research positions; therefore the salary bands for these classifications are temporarily listed as “TBD.”   The new salary bands for research positions will be released within the next 30 days.

After viewing the new structure you will have the opportunity to ask for a “Peer Review” if you feel your position has not been classified appropriately. USAC is currently in the process of selecting the members of this committee, and we anticipate beginning the Peer Review Process by the middle of February.  By February 15 we will list the members of the committee and explain the process to follow to request a review on this web site.

Over the next several weeks, group meetings will be held to answer employees’ questions. Your patience and cooperation in this phase of the project is appreciated.

As always, your questions are welcome. Please contact Sharon Shaw, Compensation Analyst at x3299.

If you have technical difficulties with this site, please contact Meltem Kokaly, Human Resources Analyst, at x2122.
