Frequently Asked Questions About Vision Coverage
Who is covered under the Wright State Vision Care Plan? All employees enrolled for medical insurance are enrolled for VSP coverage. Benefits apply to each covered person under the medical insurance plan.
How do I obtain a list of VSP participating doctors? If you need information about VSP participating doctors and their locations, contact Visions Service Plan at (800) VSP-7195 or access VSP’s Web site at www.vsp.com.
Can I see one doctor for my examination and have my glasses made by another doctor or optical shop? Yes. If you see two participating doctors, be sure to identify yourself as a VSP member when making each appointment. You should also inform the second participating doctor that you are seeking frames/lenses/contacts only in order to avoid any confusion. Also, check with the dispensing doctor’s office to assure that he or she will fill another doctor’s prescription.
What if I am dissatisfied with a VSP participating doctor or the frames/lenses/contacts I receive through a VSP participating doctor? If you receive unsatisfactory services or materials, complete an Issue Resolution Form, which can be obtained from WSU Employee Benefits, 280 University Hall, to document your concern in writing, or contact VSP’s Customer Service Department at (800) 877-7195.
Under the WSU Vision Care Plan I am eligible for an eye examination and lenses or contact lenses once per 12 month service year and frames once every two service years. What time period is covered by a service year? A service year is a calendar year beginning January 1 and ending December 31.
When seeing a participating doctor, what type of frame selection will be covered in full by VSP? VSP’s frame benefit covers a wide range of frames on the market today. Because buying habits and tastes differ from one region to the next, frame inventories may vary from office to office. When deciding on a frame, ask your doctor which ones are covered in full.
How are disposable contact lenses covered? Like all other types of contact lenses, VSP covers disposables within our group’s allowance. You may purchase them in allotments.
