New Voluntary Short Term Disability Plan Wright State University is pleased to announce the introduction of a Voluntary Short Term Disability Plan to eligible university employees. The Voluntary Short Term Disability benefit protects employees against the loss of income for the first 26 weeks of a disability. This coverage will pay a benefit equal to 60% of an employee’s covered WSU earnings at the time of disability (to a maximum benefit of $2,310 per week). The benefit is reduced by other income benefits, including sick leave. The Voluntary Short Term Disability benefit is payable beginning with the later of the date an employee is disabled and exhausts accrued sick leave, or the date when 14 calendar days of disability has passed. Eligible Employees Employees who are eligible to purchase the Voluntary Short Term Disability benefit are Full-time Benefit-Eligible Employees (75% FTE and above). Eligible employees are guaranteed acceptance for the benefit during the initial open enrollment period. New employees are guaranteed acceptance only upon hire.
