Hello,
my name is Michael Allbright and I am the Community
Director for the Honors Residential Complex. This
will be my fourth year as the Honors Community
Director. I was born in Dayton, but was raised
in the bustling metropolis of Eaton, Ohio, which
is about forty miles west of Wright State University
. My childhood was filled with many adventures
exploring the local environment and woods around
our house. As a child my family hosted a menagerie
of exotic animals including, cats, dogs, horses,
ponies, goats, fish, guinea pigs, chickens, hamsters,
possums, raccoons, parakeets, a chinchilla, a
turkey, and even a Sicilian donkey named Joey.
At
Eaton High School I was involved with numerous
organizations and served in leadership positions
with nearly all of them. I was especially proud
of my senior year when I was elected Class president,
and selected as Captain of the football team and
Prom King. After high school I decided to go to
Wilmington College and major in Secondary Education
and History, but during my time there I found
out that I was really passionate about working
with college-aged students, and at the end of
my senior year I decided to switch career paths
and not be a teacher and coach, but to work in
Student Affairs. At Wilmington I had served as
a Resident Assistant (similar to Community Advisor)
for nearly two years and as a Resident Director
during my senior year, while also being active
in intramural sports, writing for the campus newspaper
and yearbook, participating in service learning
opportunities, and serving as a member of the
Activities Programming Board and as Class President.
I was awarded an assistantship to attend Wright
State University, while working for Wilmington
College 's Residence Life team. As the assistantship
was winding down I was searching for professional
jobs in housing and residence services. My number
one choice was WSU, and as fate and faith would
have it, everything worked out, and I have had
the wonderful chance to work here at WSU.
In
my spare time I like to travel to and participate
in charity events around the country featuring
celebrities from reality television, primarily
Survivor. I have had the wonderful opportunity
to meet 149
former Survivor contestants
from the show. I am also very interested in politics
and in popular culture. One of my strongest passions
is for my faith and I love to be involved in fundraising
and serving others. I am really psyched and excited
for my fourth year and I am looking forward to
getting to know each and every one of you individually
who plan to live in the Honors Residential Complex!!!
