Hello All!
I’m Rebecca Courtney, but please call me Becca. I am the RA for the first floor of Pine Hall for the 2008-2009 academic year. This is my first year as an RA, but I have tons of experience in residence life. I am in my third year as a nursing student here at Wright State. I am employed with Disability Services as a PA and an Office Assistant. I am a member of the sorority Theta Phi Alpha, and the Student Honors Association. I also serve as a representative for my track in the nursing program through the S.M.A.R.T. Office. Obviously I am a very busy girl. I am very involved on campus and I would encourage others, especially new students, to do the same. I am from the small town of Covington, OH (not to be confused with Covington, KY!). I love all types of music, The Office, bottled water (which I recycle), my family, singing, cornbread, Star Wars, and the board game Clue. I have a very large family, 8 sisters and one brother, so I understand what it’s like to live with lots of people, sharing the same space.
For some of us this is a brand new experience and for others it’s no big deal. The important thing is that you value your stay here on campus and make the best of it. Remember that the people living next door to you are here at Wright State for the same purpose as you, and that is to get an education. Please be respectful and courteous of your neighbors. And don’t forget, you get out of your education what you put into it. Also, don’t forget to relax. College can be very stressful at times, and it is important to maintain a balance between your social life and your academic work. Too much of either can have a downside. Make sure you have fun, but responsible fun. There is always something to do on campus.
I will be available to you as much as possible, but like you I am a full-time student. However, if you need me, and I am not in my room, please do not hesitate to e-mail or call me. Once everyone gets moved in we will be having a floor meeting to get to know one another, and go over the floor policies and standards. We have an exciting year ahead of us. I already have some ideas for our floor, and if you have any suggestions or thoughts please let me know so that we can make 1st Pine our home! I look forward to meeting all of you!
See you soon!
