Hello Wonderful People!
My name is Chelsea VanHorn and I am so very excited for this coming year as the 2nd Hawthorn Resident Assistant! This is my first year as a RA, however I was previously the Residential Relations Chair for the Residential Community Association on campus. I am a few credits shy of being a senior and am majoring in Integrated English and Language Arts. I love reading, writing, meeting new people, and getting involved on campus. I’m a really outgoing person and enjoy talking to all kinds of people. I am the Undergraduate President of The WSU Chapter of the National Council of Teachers of English, a UVC 101 Instructor, and the NRHH Special Events Coordinator and RCA Rep. As you can see, I’m pretty involved on campus, so if you want to chat about joining an organization, I’m pretty familiar with most of them and would love to help you get involved.
I remember getting my room assignment my first year and wondering: What do I do now? What do I need to bring? How do I get to know my roommate before we move in?  I’ve been there and have had all of those questions at least once. The Residence Services website has so much information about all of these topics, however PLEASE feel free to email me with any questions you might have about this coming year. My goal is to make this year as enjoyable as possible for you and that means answering any questions you may have. In order to make this year amazing, it’s good to open up the window of communication now. While I am a full time student, I’m willing to take the time to listen and communicate with you, and would appreciate the same consideration.
You will hear so many people say you get out of this experience what you put into it and I can’t tell you how true that is. Be open to new people and new ideas and I have no doubt that your first year here will be absolutely amazing! I look forward to meeting all of you and will see you in the fall for a year full of new experiences, new friends, and new memories I’m sure you won’t forget :-)
Welcome to 3rd Floor Cedar and WSU!
