You Have Questions
here are some answers
Why does WSU offer music services? Respect of intellectual property is the cornerstone of academic life. The work you do and the ideas you create are your own and no one else's. It's the same with music, movies and other works - the artists that create the songs have a right to determine how they are distributed. The music services are offered to help demonstrate a legal way to enjoy music. What About Trading? Using peer-to-peer (P2P) networks and other systems for trading copyrighted material such as music and movies is against the law. P2P networks consume large amounts of network bandwidth, slowing down the network for everyone and increasing the cost of providing network access to the university. And worse, using such networks may also open your computer up to worms, viruses and other forms of attack. Why should I care? Everyone on campus is expected to follow the University Policy on Responsible Use of Technology. What are my choices? You have many options for safely and legally enjoying music. Ruckus and iTunes are just a few of the choices available in the marketplace today. The university encourages students to take advantage of the offers we've negotiated. It's the music you love - fair, safe and legal.
