“These past few years have been financially hard on my family. My mother lost her job and my dad’s business has slowly been losing revenue. Every quarter has brought about another struggle to find the funds to pay for my education. You can only imagine the excitement and relief that I felt when I received this scholarship.”

—Caleb Ater, Woods Scholarship recipient

Caleb Ater

Hello my name is Caleb Ater and I’m a nursing student here at Wright State University. I am currently working towards helping children with cancer. That is what my future goal is to do. I’d like to take a moment talking about a scholarship I received, the Woods Scholarship, which is a full ride scholarship. This came at a time when my family had a huge financial burden. This scholarship has helped me to not only continue my education, but spend time working on my studies so I can be proficient at what I do. I’d like to thank Wright State University and the faculty and staff here for making it possible for me to reach my dreams.

Pablo Banhos

Hi. My name is Pablo Banhos and I’m an alum from Brazil. I came to Wright State on an athletic scholarship and I have no doubt in my mind that without this scholarship I wouldn’t be here today talking to you. Today I am also a full time staff which allows me the opportunity to give back to the Wright State family and to help out our students. I encourage all of you, alums and friends, to participate in our latest initiative, the Graduation Fund, a fund which was designed to help our students to graduate. Join us. Help us today.

Joy Ndiangui

My name is Joy Ndiangui, originally from Kenya and a Masters student at the International Comparative Politics Program and the Public Administration Program. It’s because of a scholarship from Wright State University that I’ve been able to achieve my academic and career goals. The learning experience at Wright State has been great and the professors have been very instrumental in making me realize that I can attain that which I set my eyes to. Thank you for giving to student like me. The Graduation Fund, among others funds at Wright State, help students like me, who not only help the local but the international community.
