Students and parents who borrow Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Graduate PLUS Loan, and Federal Parent PLUS Loan funds need to select a lender for their loans. Borrowers must select a lender at the time they complete their Master Promissory Note (MPN). It is not necessary to have a banking relationship with the lender you choose unless a credit union is chosen. The lender does not need to be contacted prior to selecting them on the MPN.

The primary purpose of the lender list is to assist borrowers who need help in choosing a lender for their Stafford, Graduate PLUS, or Parent PLUS Loan. Borrowers are welcome to choose any participating lender, regardless of whether it appears on the lender list. To select a lender that is not the list, call Great Lakes Higher Educational Loan Services at (800) 247-0462.

Due to legislative changes as well as on-going credit market conditions, many lenders have ceased participating in the student loan (FFELP) industry. Contact the lender for any up-to-date decisions to either exit the student loan (FFELP) industry or to revise their borrower benefits.
