Quadrennial Review of the Wright State Core

WHEREAS, the standing Undergraduate Academic Policies Committee of the Faculty Senate is charged with the responsibility of recommending to the Faculty Senate requirements and policies to the Wright State Core (general education); and
WHEREAS, regular consideration of the university-wide general education core learning objectives and against both university learning outcomes and national/state norms is vital to meeting the educational needs of our students; and
WHEREAS, transitions to changes in the core curriculum should be made with great deliberation as such changes have university-wide impact on student success, time-to-graduation, student advising, and course scheduling; and
WHEREAS, the University instituted its first semester-based Wright State Core in Fall 2012;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wright State core and other university-wide graduation requirements be reviewed and updated as necessary at least every four years by the Undergraduate Academic Policies Committee. The chairs of the undergraduate curriculum committee and the undergraduate curriculum review committee will serve, without vote, in this quadrennial review. The committee shall submit a report with recommendations to Executive Committee. The Faculty Senate shall charge the Academic Policies Committee with this task at least every fourth year, starting in 2015.
