Women in Nature (WIN) Series
Start off the new year with an adventure, making memories to last a lifetime! This backpackging/snowshoeing expedition will begin just past the Rio Chama National Scenic River in NM. Participants will experience pinion pines and sagebrush, banded cliffs and mesa, the narrow valleys of Ojitos Canyon before topping out ouver 8,000ft on Mesa del Camino and snowshoeing along the divide. Participants will have the opportunity to learn map and compass skills in addition to basic outdoor living/backpacking skills. The trip will end with the last night spend in Pagosa Springs, CO soaking in the world's deepest geothermal hot springs surrounded by the San Juan Mountains.
Cost includes: Local guide and ORC female trip leaders, all meals on location, all backcountry equipment and camping gear, transportation from and to WSU, hotels and lodging.
Activity level: beginner to advanced. You do not need prior backpacking experience, hoewever this trip is strenuous and participants should be in good physical condition and able to carry a 40lb backpack independently over strenuous terrain while engaging in good conversation and being inspired by surrounding scenery.
