Geraldine Moriba
Women's History Month Scholar-In-Residence

Geraldine Moriba is the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at CNN International. In her role, Moriba offers strategic guidance on issues of diversity to the CNN Management team and chair the network’s diversity council.
Moriba, an award-winning producer who led CNN’s “In America” documentary team, is passionate about diverse content making it on air: “Some of the smartest journalists in the business work at CNN and I know that the prevailing sentiment in our newsrooms is that it is crucial for our content and workforce to reflect the audience we serve,” she said. “These are goals accomplished by working as a team. This isn’t only about pursuing a noble purpose, it’s about continuing to share news from across our increasingly diverse and interconnected world, in even more effective ways.”
Moriba’s experience includes 16 years at NBC News and a number of prestigious awards including five Emmy Awards, an Alfred I. DuPont Award and two Peabody Awards.

Workshop - Women of Color in Leadership

Join Geraldine Moriba for a workshop on women of color in leadership roles and how identity can influence how women and especially women of color are treated in professional settings. Moriba will draw from her own experiences, and ask for participants to do the same, to create strategies aimed at enhancing leadership and leadership opportunities. Moriba has said, “We have to do more than ask for things, do more than apply, we need to also start behaving and perceiving ourselves as leaders.” Registration required by Monday, March 10, 2014 as spaces are limited for this event. Keynote Address - The Anita Hill Lecture on Gender Justice

Geraldine Moriba will deliver the second annual Anita Hill Lecture on Gender Justice, conceived after the 20th anniversary of Anita Hill’s appearance before the US Senate Judicial Committee. The Anita Hill Lecture on Gender Justice is organized by Soapbox Inc., a speaker’s bureau for feminist voices founded by authors and activists Amy Richards and Jennifer Baumgardner; Wright State University was selected as the site for this prestigious traveling lecture series. The series highlights commitment to gender and racial justice and promotes individuals like Moriba, who inspire audiences to embark on gender awareness and crusades for justice. Free and open to the public!
