Structure Unbound: Interdisciplinary Book Art features works that push the boundaries between traditional book making and new media. The exhibition includes twenty-four artists from around the country. Visitors will see a wide range of materials and concepts, including paper wall installations, traditional accordion-style books, and cut paper structures that include LEDs and electronic components.

Exhibition juror and featured artist Colette Fu is a nationally recognized photographer and pop-up paper engineer. She has designed for award winning stop motion animation commercials and free-lanced for clients including Vogue China, Canon Asia and Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton. Her pop-up books are included in the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Library of Congress, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the West Collection and many private and rare archive collections. Fu recently returned from a 6-month artist residency in Shanghai, where she continued her “We are Tiger Dragon” project, an extensive visual exploration of China’s ethnic minorities. The Stein Galleries will be featuring eight of Colette’s pop-up photography books along with the exhibition.

Ms. Fu will give a free, public presentation on her work on Sunday, January 22, 2:30 p.m. with a reception following in the Stein Galleries. She will also give a workshop on basic pop-up techniques on Saturday, January 21 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the Creative Arts Center. The workshop is free but registration is required due to space limitations. Call 937-775-2973 for more information.
