1913: The Great Dayton Flood is part of our stellar theatre season. In March of 1913, Dayton, Ohio, experienced the greatest natural disaster in Ohio history. Over several days the Dayton area was struck by a series of three winter storms and within three days, 8 to 11 inches of rain fell throughout the Great Miami River watershed on already saturated soil. The runoff that resulted from these terrible storms created what is now known as the Great Dayton Flood.

The Festival Playhouse is a modern facility that was completed in 1974 and contains a large main stage comparable to many Broadway and regional theatres. The main auditorium of the Festival Playhouse seats 376 on the main floor and balcony and is wheelchair accessible. This facility has been praised for its comfort and unobstructed sight lines, while preserving the feeling of intimacy appropriate for educational performances.
