The Commission on Presidential Debates announced from Washington, DC, that Wright State University has been selected to host one of only four general election debates in the fall of 2016 where the final candidates will debate each other prior to the November general election.
“I could not be any prouder of our university and the fact that the Commission on Presidential Debates has entrusted Wright State to host such an important event,” said Dr. David R. Hopkins, president of the university. “I appreciate the fact that the commission had the daunting challenge of selecting just a few institutions out of a group of 16 applicants, and the fact that Wright State is one of the selectees is very gratifying and humbling. I am confident that our university will excel in supporting the commission and represent our students, faculty and staff, community, and the State of Ohio in a way that we will all be proud of. This is a huge 'win' for all of us,” Dr. Hopkins concluded.
The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates is committed to sponsoring and producing general election debates in 2016 that fulfill its voter education mission. These debates offer the only opportunity for the nation to hear the leading candidates answer the same questions on critical issues. The organization has sponsored all of the presidential debates since 1988.
