Cameos of Caring

The Hospice of Dayton—Michelle Bowman

Recognition Year:
2015

Michelle “Elle” Bowman has been a Registered Nurse for 13 years and has worked the past four years as a Staff Nurse in the Butler-Warren Hospice House. Elle’s commitment to the hospice mission is clear, and she openly expresses love for her work. She is an advocate for all of her patients as well as an excellent mentor and coach for new and senior teammates. She tries to make the hospice journey easier for everyone involved. During her time as a hospice nurse, families have praised Elle for her compassionate care of their loved ones.  Oftentimes, she will sit with a restless patient and sing in a soft voice until the patient falls asleep. Her managers describe Elle as exemplary, and her teammates have written recognition notes describing her as helpful, caring, warm, welcoming, and calm. Families call her an angel. One family member shared that the main reason the family chose to return to Hospice of Dayton for another family member was because of the compassion Elle had previously showed its loved one. Elle earned her BSN from Wright State University. She holds certification as a Hospice and Palliative Nurse.
