Miami Valley Hospital—Teresa O’Connell

Teresa (Teri) O’Connell has been a Registered Nurse for 37 years at Miami Valley Hospital, where she has spent the majority of her career in the Emergency and Trauma Center. Her peers state that, on many occasions, Teri has directed the department during pure chaos to bring order and peace to a highly stressful situation. With the highest integrity, she treats each person with respect and has an amazing sense of compassion. Her many years of tenure in the center have made her a leader, confidant, motivator, educator, and advocator to her nursing peers. A peer writes that Teri’s “follow-through accentuates her commitment to excellence, and she motivates those around to commit to excellence as well.” In 2005, she received Miami Valley’s Nurse Recognition: Performance Improvement/Research Award. Teri received her Diploma in Nursing from the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She holds certification in the Trauma Nursing Core Course.
