The OEI is staffed by two full-time staff members (a Director and an Administrative Specialist).
The Director of Equity and Inclusion provides leadership in the University’s efforts to identify and develop proactive strategies to eliminate barriers to full participation in education and employment on the part of groups who have historically encountered systematic discrimination. The Director serves as the AA/EEO and Title IX officer and helps the University achieve inclusive excellence through consultation, training and policy development related to attracting and retaining a diverse community of learners and scholars.
Specifically, the Director supervises the development of and monitors the University’s Affirmative Action Plan and workforce data analysis including reporting required by federal and state authorities to preserve the University’s qualifications and eligibility for grants, contracts and various accreditations.
The Director advises University colleagues regarding current AA/EEO legal issues, related campus concerns, implications for policy development and best practices related to hiring strategies to ensure a diverse workforce. The Director also collaborates with the Office of Human Resources and others in implementing these policies.
The Director also oversees the general operations of the Office of Equity and Inclusion including staff supervision, budget administration/oversight, and planning for continuous improvement; administers a University-wide process for resolving issues of alleged AA/EEO related discrimination/unfair treatment; and supervises the development of educational programs related to Title IX and other AA/EEO issues for faculty, students and staff. Incorporate these into programs across campus such as orientation and other faculty and staff professional development programs.
Administrative Support Coordinator
Under the direction from the Director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion, the Administrative Support Coordinator provides administrative and clerical support to staff and operations of the office.
