Wright State University Alumni Association Community Service Day, May 5, 2012

Join Wright State alumni, students and friends as they give back to the Fairborn community with the local Christmas in Action Fairborn Chapter, "Neighbor Helping Neighbor." Twenty homes have been selected to have work done. The community repair day is Saturday, May 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ten low-income houses and 10 senior low-income houses will be the projects for the day. Many volunteers are needed to complete the work on each house.

United States Air Force 5K

The Air Force 5K hosted by Wright State University will take place Friday, September 14. Runners will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Wright State University Nutter Center and wind through the Wright State campus, finishing back at the Nutter Center.

Vivian E. von Gruenigen, '91 M.D.
Boonshoft School of Medicine

Vivian von Gruenigen received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1991 from Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Summa Akron City Hospital, followed by a fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Vivian holds a Bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University.

Dominic J. Bagnoli, '90 M.D.
Boonshoft School of Medicine

Dominic J. Bagnoli, Jr. received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1990 from Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Akron General Medical Center. Dominic holds a Bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University. He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emergency Medicine Physicians in Canton, Ohio.

Chauncey Jenkins, B.F.A. in Theatre, '06
Alumni in the Arts Spotlight

Chauncey Jenkins first heard of Wright State University when he was a student at Pebblebrook High School in Mableton, Georgia, a Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts.

"It's a pretty well known school," said Jenkins. "All of the universities—Wright State, CCM, Carnegie Mellon, Juilliard—came into our school to hold auditions and work with some of the students."

Dan Patterson, B.F.A. in Art, '76
Alumni in the Arts Spotlight

September 12, 1996, was a birthday Dan Patterson will never forget. The renowned aviation photographer was on the coast of Kent, near the famous White Cliffs of Dover, for the annual commemoration of the Battle of Britain.

Through his aviation connections, Patterson had arranged to take air-to-air photographs of a British Spitfire flying over the English Channel. The historic fighter plane was key to winning the Battle of Britain.

Sports Update

Baseball

Head coach Rob Cooper picked up his 250th career coaching win as the Raiders defeated UIC 4-3 Sunday afternoon. WSU is now 26-13 overall and sitting in first place of the Horizon League with a 14-4 record. Senior reliever Michael Schum notched his 10th save of the year and is now tied for the career record of 34 saves. WSU hosts Dayton on Tuesday, Urbana on Wednesday and Butler from Friday through Sunday.

Class of 2010

Andrew D. Sanctis (B.A.), a Marine Corps Pfc., completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Class of 1995

Bruce Robertson (B.S.B.), police chief of the Centerville (OH) Police Department, earned a master's degree in security studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Class of 1982

Jean Koeller (B.F.A.), an artist, had about 30 of her landscape paintings featured in Nature = Art, an exhibit at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center in Troy, OH.
