Research

  • Scales and Controls of Aquifer Heterogeneity in Sedimentary Formations
Facies analysis of fluvial and glaciofluvial deposits emphasizing the three-dimensional architecture of sand and gravel bodies and the properties of the resulting aquifers.
  • Geostatistical Quantification of Facies Models
Improving the usefulness of sedimentary facies models as predictive tools by quantifying the spatial distribution of lithologies.
  • Numerical Modeling of Depositional Processes
Reconstructing the hydrodynamic character of sediment-depositing flows recorded in sedimentary textures, structures, and sequences of structures. Nunerical simulation models provide useful tools to aid interpretation.
  • Upper Pennsylvanian-Lower Permian Sandstones
Investigation of fluvial and tidal sandstones in the central Appalachians emphasizing the quantitative interpretation of ancient river characteristics and the controls of alluvial stratigraphy.
