One of our most important measures of excellence are those that demonstrate our ability to transform lives. In many cases, private support from friends and alumni of Wright State University is often the catalyst that enables the university—and the Women's Center—to transform the lives of its students through teaching, research, scholarship, and community outreach.
These funds are made possible by generous donors who believe in the abilities and talents of women students and want to encourage their success at Wright State. Information about the history and purpose of each fund is listed below.
- Women's Center Opportunity Fund
Since 1993, the Women's Center has lived its mission to facilitate connections, provide resources, and advocate for equitable experiences and opportunities for all people. This endowed account will support special initiatives that advance the mission of the Women's Center.
- Jo Angela Freeman Saxon Scholarship for Working Mothers
In the early 1980s, Jo Angela Freeman Saxon worked full-time as a kindergarten teacher, attended college full-time to complete her degree, and was the sole provider for three small children. The Angela Saxon Scholarship for Working Mothers was started in 2008 by Saxon's friends and family to ease the financial stress faced by working mothers as they seek to better the lives of their families.
- Kim and Shelley Goldenberg Scholarship for the Women's Center
The Kim and Shelley Goldenberg Scholarship was endowed by former Wright State president Kim Goldenberg, Ph.D, and his wife, Shelley, in 2006. The scholarship fund was established to provide support to undergraduate student leaders with financial need.
- Sexual Assault Prevention and Education Fund
In 2006, V-Day student organizers and the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance began work to endow the Sexual Assault Prevention and Education Fund. This fund's will help supplement sexual assault education and prevention efforts on campus and in the greater community.
- Wilda Murray Ehrenfried Scholarship
The Wilda Murray Ehrenfried Scholarship was established by the family and friends of Wilda Murray Ehrenfried in honor of her 90th birthday and helps provide funding for women with dependent children. As the longest-standing scholarship in the Women's Center, the fund is responsible for helping several of its awardees to remain in school.
- Women's Center Foundation Fund
The Women's Center Foundation Fund provides the perfect opportunity for donors who wish to give us maximum flexibility to match their dollars with the immediate needs of students, faculty, and staff. Donations to this fund help us with our most pressing initiatives and needs.
Donations to the Personal Care and Student Caregiver Pantry
The Personal Care and Student Caregiver Pantry provides personal care items such as toothpaste, body wash, deodorant, tampons, etc. We also have various items for student-parents and caregivers such as diapers, formula, wipes, and more. The pantry is open to all students on Wright State’s campus.
Items can be donated to the pantry during open hours.
