Browser Requirements

Browser IconTo access Wright State's online courses, you'll need a computer with an internet connection and a recent version of one of these Web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer for Windows
  • Firefox for Mac or Windows
  • Safari for Mac or Windows
  • Chrome for Mac or Windows

Other browsers may work, but are not supported by CaTS. Some online classes may have additional software requirements.

Computer Requirements

Most computers made in the past three years would meet the technical requirements for online courses. Recommended hardware:

  • 4GB of Ram

You may get by with less RAM, though, if you are running an older operating system, such as Windows XP.

Academic Support Services

University College

Virtually all undergraduate students begin their academic careers in the University College which provides:

  • Academic Advising for students until they meet requirements for entering their majors.
  • Articulation agreements with 2-year institutions to ensure smooth transfer to WSU.
  • Developmental Education for students who need to strengthen their skills in basic writing and mathematics before taking more difficult core coursework.
  • First Year Experience programs to assist new students in transitioning to university life and experiencing success in their first year of college.
  • Learning Communities to help new students meet friends and "study buddies" quickly.
  • Math Learning Center which covers specialized help in mathematics.
  • Placement Testing in English and math.
  • Tutoring Services which covers general, subject-related help.
  • University Writing Center which covers specialized help with writing.

University Libraries

All distance learners currently enrolled in a course at Wright State University are entitled to use the University Libraries' resources and services, including:

  • Remote access to databases and other electronic resources of WSU and OhioLINK.
  • Borrowing privileges from any OhioLINK Institution.
  • Reference and research assistance.
  • Access to books and articles.
  • Online instruction.

Career Services

Career Services helps students and alumni develop career and life-planning skills, acquire experience, master job search strategies, and seek rewarding employment via programs in:

  • Career exploration.
  • Student Employment.
  • Cooperative education and internships.
  • Career employment.

Office of Disability Services

The Office of Disability Services offers a variety of services to students diagnosed with physical, learning and psychological disabilities. These services include

  • Alternate format books (CDs, Braille and WAV files).
  • C-printers.
  • Sign language interpreters.
  • Testing accommodations.

Information concerning the materials necessary to apply for services is listed on the Office of Disability Services Web page . Once a student has submitted documentation a pre-service interview appointment should be scheduled. For a distance learning student, a phone interview may be arranged.
